TGIF [weekend suggestions*a little note from me to you]

1. be like TK and cook* the weekend forecast calls for rain in the tri-state area, so find your footy pajamas, a good book, compile a rainy day soundtrack (i suggest anything by keane, rogue wave or matmos) and cook something yummy. bubbly if possible. anything with gourds would be good too. it’s fall (ok, maybe it’s closer to winter)- revel in the tastes that the season has to offer.

2. be your own moma* with the moma opening to ridiculous crowds and even more ridiculous prices this weekend, screw the hoity toity design elite and be your own karim rashid (or, if you loathe him like i do, be your own lorena barrezueta or erwan bouroullec) and pick up a copy of ready-made magazine and choose an activity. even though we all celebrate people like charles, ray, verner and eero, everyone knows that there’s a fabulous designer lurking just beneath all our surfaces…

3. get to know your neighbors*no matter where you live, there’s local talent all around you just dying to get discovered. if you’re in brooklyn stop by kcdc for the sticker show, or the future perfect for well, anything. if you’re in manhattan, check out the goods at sublime american design and find yourself a great new designer to oggle. if you’re somewhere else? well, check your local arts paper and see who’s doing what around you.

have a great weekend you guys….see you monday!

xoxo,

FOR THE WALLS [amelia*david palmer] sometimes what your apt needs is a great work of art…one that isn’t a piece furniture. if that’s you, then come on down. david palmer is a PHENOMENAL artist who i discovered in london a few years back and have been following ever since. look here for my favorite series of his. enjoy

PHUN PHORMS [pottery*phorm] so i used to have quite a close relationship with those who use the “ph”. yes, it’s true. i used to be a hippy. GASP! yes, i even used to work with phish’s bass player! now that my rock star days are over (well, until coles and i get our piano and guitar act together…) i’m enjoying pottery with a ph instead.

CLASSY CD HOLDERS [orbit*lost luggage] happy friday! good god, i’ve never been happier to get to a friday before. man, thank god for fridays. anyway…i hate to cover up sasha gabbe’s GORGEOUS pumpkin vases, but you gotta make room for the new, right?

i found these cool cd covers in an ad in id mag, i think. very cool. wooden and felt veneers- a nice change to all those crap foam cover cd holders, or lining up rows upon rows of cds on the floor, table, what have you. if you’re like me and happen to love someone who loves music and owns more cds than any other human, creative cd storage is a must. (although if you’re like me, you’d take the rows of cds any day if it meant you got to spend more time with their owner…) so, go check out the designers (lost luggage) and have some fun…happy friday!
