MESU HUNGRY [measuring bowls*mesu] first, there should be umlauts over the u, but i can’t make them on this damn keyboard. anyway, i think this is kinda creepy, in an almost eating disorder way. these bowls were designed to let you portion control without being dependant on scales and such. i find it a bit creepy. really people, moderation is the key to everything. but, on the upshot, i think they’re super cute bowls. i’d use em to measure things like sugar, chocolate and oh i don’t know, lard.

RETRO FREEZE [retro fridges*big chill] i found these crammed into the tiny ad spaces in dwell magazine. they deserve a bit more attention than that, in my opinion. i’d give my right arm for one of these cuties in blue, buttercup yellow or pink. well, maybe not my right arm, but you know, a lot. retro cute is always cool with me. more info at bigchillfridge.com.

D*S PUKES [kire chair*karim rashid] i may be going out on a limb here (i never really learned that lesson about burning bridges) but i’d like to declare this the most HIDEOUSLY DISGUSTING CHAIR I’VE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. PERIOD. there. i feel better.

i think karim rashid is the most overhyped hack designer ever. what the hell is this? seriously. he’s become the madonna of designers. all sizzle and no steak. like, really, what the hell is this? i’ll tell you what it is- lazy. you used to use your powers for good, karim, so come on, re-join the world of those who make an effort, please?

am i taking crazy pills?? i feel like will ferrell in zoolander. this chair is bad. bad bad bad. for more hideous examples of what mr. rashid has turned into, see this.

well, the future perfect’s holiday “gifted” show was hands down, my favorite gettogether of the holiday season. there’s nothing like a brooklyn party to make you feel relaxed and not so, you know, scenester-y. although, the future perfect is definitely a scene in itself- it’s just a scene in which i feel more comfortable. plus it’s right across from my favorite sushi restaurant. bonus!

d*s style summary: cool people, cool store, cool designs, cool vibe, cool neighborhood. just plain cool. seen: designs by online darlings eric ginder and sara cihat. a great installation of lite brite’s new neon sconces, and the OSB desk from redstr/collective. best in show? look no further than the most darling little felt birds i’ve ever seen. honorable mention: inkblot mirrors by DUPD design.

i’m still waiting on some more details in terms of designer’s last names (and first names!) from dave, but if you need any info or see something you want to buy, just stop on by the future perfect. click here for directions, contact info, etc.

happy holidays dave!

xoxoxo,

being raised in the south means decorating is in your blood. you can’t escape it. center pieces and greenery are everywhere this time of year. but, seeing as i’ve started to lay roots a bit further north, i’ve been picking at my own nouveau-northern/urban decorations…and i think i’ve found some. i’ve never been one for cb2.com, i don’t know why, i’ve just never been a big fan. but….i did like these great little ornaments from cb2. they’re perfect for decorating a small space with style and color. the shapes are great and the different styles allow you to play around with transparency as well. i like to use repetition and patterning, so i’d group the bell ornaments in a chandelier pattern according to color. i think all clear or all lime green would be divine. so, go have a look and see if you find anything to decorate your home with.

RING RING [bell ornaments*cb2.com] i’d do all clear or all lime green in a chandelier shape from the ceiling, or over a table, or maybe in lieu of mistletoe?
