freckles

modernseed_1855_2274566

their first new exclusive design, modernseed’s ‘freckles’ are moveable stickers with a low tack adhesive that can be removed and reused without damaging wood or painted walls (similar to blik’s designs). each kit includes 40 white dots of varying sizes and 2, 19”x19” inch printed sheets backed with a low tack adhesive that can be placed, layered, removed and reused without damaging paint. the other cool thing is that freckles can be colored with crayons or cut with scissors to make customized designs. perfect for an afternoon art project. $32 at modernseed.

Ooooh! I love that. Especially on the wood. I wonder if I could do the same thing using contact paper?? Hmmm……

Yes, I definitely think you can use contact paper, it’s cheaper and you can cut it to any shape you’d like. You can also use those circle cutters if you want to make circles…

Contact paper will definitely work, but if/when you want to remove the designs from your wall you will regret having used it - the adhesive will be very difficult to remove. One of the big advantages to the commercially made wall decals is the adhesives which allow easy repositioning and removal. Yes, I’m biased here…but I’ve had to remove old contact paper from shelves and walls and it isn’t fun.

If you really want to “roll-your-own” I would suggest cutting your shapes out of something like Sherwin-Williams’ new EasyChange Wallpaper: “www3.sherwin.com/do_it_yourself/wallpaper/new_products.jsp” It might be difficult to find a palatable pattern, but it should be much easier to get off of your walls.
