dispatch from milan [part two]

P1010147

CITY magazine’s sophie donelson brings it all home for us:

“I’m back from Milan but the 28 pounds of press kits I gathered this week won’t get to CITY until next week. I spent Friday outside the fairgrounds—everything offsite was outta site. The highlights: Satellite Salone, on the outskirts of the fairgrounds, had 500+ independent designers, like the creators of Working 360, a rotating desk solution and the science-fair-esque speaker system. In Brera, super-popular UK manufacturer Established & Sons pulled off a really dynamic impromptu showroom with works by Tom Dixon, Zaha Hadid, and their kronies. Best scene overall: the indie-cool neighborhood Zona Tortona—the nexus being Superstudio Piu where sidewalk follies (see flower girl and chair sculpture) and product stole the show. Moooi (now owned by B&B Italia) offered Marcel Wanders’ sofa system, plus a papier-mache bookshelf (super light, and cheap at 1600 euros) by Studio Job and, and the piece de resistance, Front Design’s boar table (that’s a tray on its neck), which I can’t live another day without.”

thanks, soph!

I think the new wanders sofa (next to the pigs head) is much better than this so called ..table..
