I’m surprised they were able to so perfectly Xerox Stephen with Marcel: silly hair, check; douchebag look on his face, check; condescending to the others, check; confidently predicting he will win the challenge only to be in the bottom four, check; maintaining his food was delicious in the face of all evidence to the contrary, check.

And they have a Tiffany/Jeffrey/Omarosa too (though I forget exactly who it was…): “I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to win!”

Padma does have much to do with the food world, she’s done food shows, written cookbooks and i believe worked as an actual chef
she’s beautiful, talented and married to my favorite writer in the whole world, it’s easy to be jealous of her for sure!

not so much jealous (though who wouldn’t want legs up to their ears) but annoyed that they couldn’t get someone who isn’t an actor or model…

she may have all that good experience but that’s certainly NOT what they stress in her bio on the page:

couldn’t we get some chefs or food editors or someone who doesn’t look like they want to make out with the camera all the time? hopefully she’ll prove to be a bit more than eye candy as the show progresses. i actually miss robot lee joel.

the show is basically a reality show where they choose the “best” chef through a series of challenges. there are two challenges per episode (a quickfire challenge in the beginning and a longer one at the end). after each episode someone is cut until the last two battle it out in a giant finale episode. last season’s winner is actually a good chef and is opening a restaurant in ny this fall…

trust me, she’ll be great… i think she’s a fabulous confluence of brains, beauty and actual knowledge and talent
(and i was actually saying I’M jealous of her (not you, i would never be that crude on someoneleses blog!))
i was just defending her b/c i have such a girlie crush on her!
but, to focus on the food, that was a wicked hard first challenge, i like to think i can cook, but i never would have been able to pull that one off

d*s, wasn’t Padma’s utter gorgeousness balanced by the extra 15 pounds Harold was carrying on his neck? Also, did you notice the long scar on Padma’s right arm? If they can’t replace Katie Lee Joel, everybody’s favorite Stepford host, with somebody who is physically flawless what is the point?

Anything is better than last season’s robo-host. The chefs this season seem pretty good; most (save Harold and 1 or 2 others) seemed kinda ify.

I’ve run into Harold 3 times now (Subway, LIRR, bar). Kinda weird, though it’s NYC, so no surprise seeing NY-based (demi)celebs. Though not many people recognize him, so it was probably weird for him seeing someone with that look of recognition on their face.
