ugliest pillow contest: vote!

pillow icon 2

after wading through some pretty hideous entries, 8 finalists were selected for the ugliest pillow contest, sponsored by pillows and throws. i’ll have to say, i’m pretty surprised that people would actually keep pillows that have been victims of animal attack, wine spills and even the dreaded baby puke stain- but they have. here are the top 8 entries who have a chance to have their ugly pillows replaced by pretty thomas paul pillows from pillows and throws. so, vote here to decide who in fact has the ugliest pillow in america. the polls will be open until 12 pm on thursday evening and a winner will be announced on friday. thanks to everyone who took the time (and had the guts) to submit their ugly pillows. so, vote away! [please do not leave votes in the comment section, they will not be counted]

To quote Laura from PR:

“There’s a lot of ugly going on in here…”

I think the lion is pretty cute. Kind of Alexander Girard-ian.

You are not going to believe this, but I actually have the coordinating twin bedsheets for #8. My mother-in-law saved them from when my husband was a kid. She gave them to us to use for my son.

I like #2 and #5, and vigorously disagree that #5 looks like a Cosby sweater.

I confess I like #4 — due mostly to a nostalgic fondness for a scandinavian shag rug that my parents have… they would be a kindred pair!

Down with Brown! Number 3 makes my tummy hurt.

Nunber 3 looks just like the one lining my cat’s litter box

Even though it might mean no Thomas Paul pillows, I’m kind of happy that my lion is getting some love. Girard-ian…I think he’s blushing now!

Thanks for a great laugh! Yes, I agree with those who said #2 is cute. It is very hard to choose between #1, 3, 7 and 8. If any of those were in my apartment, I would never come back here again …

Oh gawd, number 3 is just beyond serious ugly.

I think almost everybone owns at least one ugly pillow. Why do we save them? It’s pretty much the accepted, adult version of a baby blanket or teddy bear!

#6 is actually an Anthropologie pillow from last fall!

Definitely No 2.

#s 2 and 6 are passably nice! I don’t think they belong here. Especially 6.

I’m going with #8, though many of these are hideous. That one suffers the indignity of being both ugly and completely trashed. I mean, #1 is garish, but it looks like it’s in decent shape. #7 is ugly, but it seems like it would have been passable in its time. But there’s no time in history when #8 would have been remotely stylish, and it’s a wreck, to boot.

Target sold this 70s tufted Mizrahi chenille throw pillow this spring (similar construction as #4), in shades of turquoise, green, and brown. It was hideous. Every time we went into the store my fiance would chase me around with it, as a joke. :(

Some of these would be ok depending on surrounding decor.
I think #1 is interesting.
4 & 7 are terrible no matter where they were. # 6 is bad too.

Number 6, no doubt.

I know this is an old contest, but we had one of those lion pillows, and gosh darnit, I still love it.

I really like #2…actually, none of these pillows are ugly, only their backrounds. Even number eight would be OK in the car, or the littleleague lineup cage…

#1 is hideous…. and wait…what’s that… American flags intespersed amidst the mass of confusion. All I can say is, this new contest has a lot to live up to.

wow.. number 6 sort of reminds me of a butthole. is that bad?
defnitely ugly.
