futures antiques

thanks to amber at my aim is true i picked up these vintage chrome and cork lamps from futures antiques for $90. i’d been looking for something like this and after AT did a post on similar lamps in domino amber left a comment about these. i scooped them up right away when i found out the shop in question was actually in my hometown. small world. they seem to have a nice collection of furniture and lighting online if you’re looking for some fun vintage pieces- they ship throughout the us so you can order on the phone and have it shipped to your front door. click here for more info. [thanks, amber!]

[if you type in "cork lamp" on ebay you can find similar lamps]

Dear Grace,

Since you are open to shopping in Virginia, I wanted to pass on the link to a great Vintage modern shop in Charlottesville called HOME. We also happily ship to customers around the country. Please check us out:

I was crushing on those lamps when I saw them on AT too. I’m practicing restraint (it’s a new thing for me) so I didn’t track them down. I’m glad they found a new home with you. They’re sharp. You got a great deal too. The ones on ebay are going for twice the price. What type of shade are you envisioning?

Grace,

First, thanks for the purchase of the cork lamp pair from my shop FUTURES Antiques. I appreciate it. They are already in transit to your home.

Second, for those of you interested in cork surfaced items, always ask if there are any dents, gouges, or pieces torn away. This is their one issue. They don’t like poor handling.

fyi.

Thanks again,
Ronn Ives

The same style of lamp makes an appearance in Bill Murrays uber cool house in the movie Broken Flowers

Grace,

I think it would be GREAT if you could supply us with a photo of the lamps once you’ve “shaded” them and found their place in your home. I always LOVE seeing how items from my shop are brought back to Life.

Deal?

OH MY GOSH. I bought this exact lamp at a thrift store about ten years ago for maybe $5 and I love it. Every roommate I’ve had in that time period has hated it and tried to convince me to get rid of it but I’ve never given in!

I’m selling the exact same lamp, with the original lampshade, in excellent condition, if anyone is interested;-) I’m in CA, but can ship. If interested, email me at egyptnqn@gmail.com.
