jen garrido

today was a happy day because my jen garrido painting arrived in the mail! i’d comissioned a small piece a few months back and today it’s happily gracing the wall in my kitchen. i don’t think this is its permanent home but for now it’s the place i’ll see it the most (lots of cleaning and cooking to do in there these days). don’t worry, it’s not close to the sink or any water. jen’s work is so colorful and combines beautiful flora and fauna imagery with the perfect amount of texture. you can check out jen’s work right here and contact branch gallery right here if you’re interested in purchashing a piece. prices vary according to size and request.

lucky you! she is one of my favorite sf artists. the sfmoma was having a big sale last year and there was just one of her pieces marked at a fabulous price. i STILL regret not buying it!

your commissioned painting is fantastic!

Oh this is funny!
Her name (garrido) in portuguese means “colorful”, and her paintings are really “garridas”!!

I love your painting, but I also love your magazine holders in the kitchen! I would love something similar to have my latest food magazines at hand while waiting for yet another pot of water to boil. Would you mind revealing where you found yours or offering suggestions for something similar?

sure! it’s this rack (spray painted white):

http://www.containerstore.com/browse/Product.jhtml?CATID=74540&PRODID=74460

works really well for me. it doesn’t hold a TON of weight but it’s fine for about 4 big cookbooks and some magazines.

I hope this isn’t too tacky of a question, but I’ve been searching around online for an hour trying to figure out how much her paintings cost. I absolutely *love* them, but am afraid they are out of my price range. Are they hundreds of dollars? Thousands of dollars?

oooooo great painting :) – i’ve been looking for a magazine holder like the one you have hanging next to the painting, where did you get yours or where can i find one like that?

i am a huge fan of garridos work. her paintings range from $1200 to $2500 and up. i want one comissioned but it would mean giving up rent money!
