Deco to die for

Art Deco is all about sophistication. Sleek chrome, rich woods, worn-in leather. Luxury that has everything to do with quality and nothing to do with fuss.

With its elegant proportions, this Walter von Nessen lamp would suit a Deco room.

A clock like this really catches the eye. Search “Westclox Big Ben” for similar styles.

Old movie-theatre exit signs, like this one, look great above a doorway.

Can’t you just picture Ingrid Bergman taking a cigarette from this rosewood box ?

The designs of Warren McArthur, which include these chairs, helped define the period.

If you’re looking for similar pieces, use eBay keywords Shaw-Walker, Goodform, (Warren) McArthur, Deskey, “Machine Age,” and streamline(d).

Sellers who specialize in Deco include ami2763, roxyartdeco, frenchstyle, and luvena183.

molly,

j’adore the rosewood box: i have one extremely similar to it! it was my first ever “adult” purchase gift for myself on going off to college. i decided a college lady would have a such a box on top of her dresser to keep her earrings in, and so it rests even still, on my dresser.

love your posts…thanks!
