kanibal home

kanibal home is a fantastic new online store comprised of one-of-a-kind, vintage objects. the site combines found art and furnishings collected by owner kelly greene. kanibal reupholsters furniture, salvages found artwork and jewelry and even offers to help you find pieces if you drop them a line. looks like they’re off to a great start- i’m loving this peacock chair ($178) but you can click here to browse the full collection and shop online. [don't forget to check part one of the bloggers' shopping guide if you need more sources for vintage furniture]

Does anyone know where in the world those fabrics are from. I am in love with the black and yellow upholstery on that chair.

Love the pierced brass lamp on the left (around the web section)!

I know you probably won’t publish this as is your right, but are you kidding me? “Blue Chalice” for $18.00? I owned these glasses in my childhood, they are everywhere at the thrifts, and this one is only notable for not being dishwasher scarred. Creative upholstery is one thing, but the rest of this site is run by shysters. Your readers are too savvy for this.

unless you curse, i’ll publish your comment. though i’m not a fan of calling people you don’t know shysters.

it’s fine not to like something but please avoid name-calling unless you have a story or some facts to back up the name/claim.

Great find! I was surprised at how low the upholstery prices are. Love love the burnt orange tufted cane chair.

And, c’mon, 18 bucks isn’t crazy for a chalice… especially for those of us who don’t have easy access to the really good, cheap, and non-picked over thrift stores. It’s a convenience and a curatorial thing. I buy vintage dresses for $50 all the time, even though I know I could buy similar ones for $4.99 when I visit my parents in Texas… but it wouldn’t be the same dress… and it definitely wouldn’t be worth the plane fare.
