front design

i keep reading about this trend in home design that involves people installing poles (ahem, yes, those kind of poles) in their bedrooms. i read an article online the other day about seemingly timid mid-western housewives installing them in basements and above the garage playrooms. while i’ve never secretly wanted to install a stripper pole in my house, i do harbor a secret desire to install a disco ball. i think it would be so fun to turn the lights out, turn on the disco ball and dance to music in the living room. yep, that’s my idea of a good time. but no ordinary disco ball will do- the object of my desire? this fancy disco ball fixture from front design. their confetti light would be the perfect way to set the mood and dance the night away. i can hear the music now…

That’s so awesome. It makes me want to convert my guest room into a home disco.

hee hee! that’s great. yeah, i’d never want to install a pole either. i mean, what do these people tell their family when they visit?? to me that would be weird! a disco ball, on the other hand, would be fun!

I have a disco ball that hangs unobtrusively in a corner in front of my bathroom. It drives my kitties crazy!

I want this lamp! Gatto and Mousiecat will go crazy for it. In fact, I like so many pieces on Front Design. Where do they sell their pieces?

we could definitely have a dance party at your place with this thing! as far as i know this piece isn’t available for sale yet but it was shown at the milan fair so i’d expect it to be available soon. i have an email out to front to ask about availability.

Love this, so cute! And I have to say I never considered one of *those* kind of poles until a friend recently hosted a girls only party complete with lessons (clothing stayed on). It was terribly addicting and empowering. In my own house would be the only place I would do it!

Grace you nailed it!
I never realized the functional aspects of owning a disco ball. But now all I can think about is how great it would be on a rainy day, or after a hard day at the office, to go home, lower the lights, blast some good tunes and go crazy in a sparkly, spiraling wonderland! What a great release!

i know! a rainy day, some good dance music and you’re good to go. that’s my kind of exercise. forget the treadmill- dance parties are way better.

a pole is great and i’m married…which makes it even better. wives are so timid. you need to get married already grace.

that is awesome! I have a disco mirror ball but only one, and it’s medium sized. That wondrous creation would be far more likely to spur me on to party!

Oh boy.
My mom is building out part of her basement to be a dance studio and she wanted a disco ball.
I have to show her the confetti light.
How does one go about purchasing their products, though?

i agree with blue archid ~ we had private pole dancing lessons for my best friend’s bachelorette party (clothing stayed on) and it was addicting, empowering, and a great work-out. there’s a whole society around this concept: http://www.sfactor.com/

We have a large disco ball hanging on our deck, so in the afternoons when the sun hits the ball, we get lighted squares in our living room that has big windows to the deck! Also, since the wind sways the ball, the lights move!

And don’t you worry about how to hide a pole when the parents come into town. I hear that they have removable ones ;)

i was at the same party with studiowellspring. i have to add that the classes are done in near darkness and there are no mirrors. i truly recommend a disco ball/pole combo!

A disco ball is a great item for windows (if you’re not in the mood for a dance party). A friend of mine has them in a few windows in her house and they cast lovely, subtle showers of light across different rooms throughout the day as the sun passes over from morning to night. The kitties love them, as well.

we had a small disco ball left over from a party, we just put it up in our living room for fun. Let me tell you, all the kids that come over to our house think we have the coolest house ever!!!
I think I am creating some strange decorating needs for the next generation!!!

This would be so easy to make. They sell those dico balls at the doller store and with Christmas coming up, you could get a whole bunch of different sizes!
