eames giveaway winner!

corcoran-family_41.jpg
thank you so much to everyone who voted for the sparkability eames giveaway contest! it was such an honor to see so many beautiful homes and to have such a nice turnout for the voting. so, who will be taking home a new modernica rocker of their choice? drumroll please…..

the corcoran family! this crafty levitating family took the lead from day one and held strong throughout the rest of the voting period. when describing their photo, shane corcoran said, “this shot was set up by my wife lisa l corcoran. she placed our camera on the tripod and told us: “ok; everyone please levitate like criss angel taught us.” it was a lucky shot…freezing our son, mateo blue corcoran (a.k.a buzz light yr.) into a photo when he is zipping around is very close to impossible.”

other crowd favorites were jason and sarah maria, but sadly they couldn’t top the sheer floating power of the corcorans. so congrats to the corcorans and thank you to everyone who voted! i’m hoping to do expanded sneak peeks of everyone who entered so stay tuned! hopefully i can convince these design-inclined homeowners to share even more of their spaces with us.

and a big, special thanks to mark at sparkability for donating the fantastic rocker for our lucky family. thanks, mark!

Congrats Corcoran family!
I just wanted to say that I was so impressed with each and every reader space in this contest. Every home was beautiful and unique and full of interesting ideas!

Congrats! I have to admit that I loved all the entries so in the end it was the whippet that sold me. I know mine would love a designer chair to hang out in: whippets are notorious decor snobs.

My favorite is the dog’s expression. I’m not sure he knew what he was getting into when he signed up to be a part of the family, but at least he’s learned to adapt and float like the rest of them!

though the picture is cleverly cute, I thought other spaces were more appealing. but they had the most creative entry if not the cutest room.

Do you think we could convince the Corcoran quintet to tell the secrets on their wonderful picture? I would love to know in time for Christmas cards!

We are so gald to have won. We picked out the babby blue rocker last night! It will be nice to have something to sit in when we are not levitaing. To answer Shannon, levitating takes extreme focus, determination and hard work (and some help from Criss Angel). Thank you for all your votes. More photos from us in the future for sure!

Shannon, there are many brilliant photographers on Flickr, perhaps they can explain to you how to get this effect. I have seen other, if not more amazing effects and ideas on Flickr. So, check it out and ask one of them, they’ll be more than happy to help you out (they’re so awesome). ;)

oh, and one more thing Shannon, looks as though they used a trampoline and took the photo in mid air and photoshopped away.

No trampoline used…Pure magic my man. Shane

I thought this was the best of photo shop and the most pedestrian of interior design. I didn’t expect staged photographic manipulation to be part of the contest, but instead to capture the honest expression of simplicity in design in an individual life…. one evoked through intimate images of individual homes, not staged images of the occupants. Did I miss the post modern part about this being ironic? Oh well, I was bored by the image. Hopefully you will publish the first nay sayer.

i think you’re taking the free chair giveaway a little too seriously. it was a fun picture, nothing more, nothing less.

there is always one…i think our picture was original, creative and fun for the whole family. it was a great experience for all of us, and we are all going to enjoy the rocker for many years to come. i think it did ‘capture the honest expression of simplicity in desingn in an individual life’ but with a twist. :)

magic, lol. that’s funny, I agree with you tamara…but this is grace’s little blog, she’s not a designer or anything like that, just one who thinks she’s some kind of design expert. Now, waiting for the lemmings to comment.

no lemmings here…first and probably last time commentor. seems as though this is a community that is very supportive of one another. appreciated and understood, though……
