um…ow…my eyes! (What’s up with the little kid lifting the skirt? Hi, dirty!) Very fun site to go through! Oy, but what mistakes will we all make?

There’s an amazing and hilarious coffee table book of bad interiors from the 60s & 70s called “Interior Desecrations” by James Lileks. Seriously you can spend hours passing it around with your friends and gawking. (I have!)

Is it bad that I like all of them? I think i’m going to re-do my kitchen to match my car.

I love the naked woman perched on the tub like some kind of gargoyle — that, and the horse in the bathroom.

OMG! They did a great job of achieving hideous.

Wow, those are great. And you’re right, I totally like some of them!

I wonder what future generations will think when they come across pictures of the interiors we love today. Will they think the same things we think about those 70’s interiors??

I saw this site a year or so ago and I was happy to be re-reminded of it! I especially love the way the horse stall is just right there in the kitchen! I’m always thinking that is the ONE thing missing from my kitchen now.

I don’t mind the photo on top – in fact i could use something like that in my apt but the bathrooms are too much!

and what’s with the plad muppet fur room. I kinda want it, kinda want to ralf from it. I wish they would have shown this at ‘Crimes of Taste’

Wow, I like orange, but those furry furnishings are something else!

Those bathrooms are Rad! I love the matching orange toilets/sinks and tubs.

I’m showing my age here, but these remind me of my bedroom in ‘74: orange and green walls, an orange lucite hanging lamp, an orange lucite peace sign on the wall, and a very 70’s crocheted throw on the bed.

I am not sure even orange can help that furry stuff.

These interiors are causing me pain! so loud! great to look at back at but I count myself lucky that I wasn’t born early enough to witness it first hand!

This site is absolutely hilarious! Many shots seemed to be of the same house, unless those tiles were really popular. I vote for the Giant Lips couch as hideous for future generations.

October 25th, 2007 - 5:26 pm

I think they are atrocious, but a good laugh. A kitchen with the stable? So practical.

October 25th, 2007 - 6:55 pm

i want to match my house at all times. in the bathroom orange and white outfit, in the living room green and blue… etc.

Awesome! I actually scour the thrift stores for books of 60’s – 70’s interiors for inspiration. I’m feeling nostalgic for the avacado green kitchens of my childhood …

One of the bathrooms looks just like the one in my parents in law’s home in Frederikshavn, Denmark. Seriously.
… I like it, though, kind of… But I’m also the kind of person who is always on the hunt for 70s fabric like the one on the second photo…

i’m partial to the trippy green faux bois-covered kitchen. if someone offered me a stainless-topped island like that, i don’t know that i’d have the nerve to turn it down.

Wow, that’s so bad. They had to be doing that on purpose. My eyes are burning. The orange bathroom, the hairy bedroom, wow.
