clock roundup

anthro 2
i’ve been thinking about time a lot lately- how much time i need to finish this week’s posts, how much time it will take to cook tonight’s dinner, how much time i’ll need to get to the train station after the meet up on thursday. i always feel like time is slipping away from me and then it occurred to me that a clock might help. i have a walnut nelson clock but it still hasn’t found a new home in our apt yet. so i thought after i found a home for the nelson clock i could use a few more around the house. i still haven’t found the perfect clock but i found a few nice ones i thought i’d share. hope this helps the next time you need some more time in your day. just click “more” for the rest of the clocks…

Cool post, but you missed one. What’s the clock in the upper-right corner of the second picture?

Thanks!

Oh my gawd, I’m crazy for clocks! It just makes me sick that I let my mom put a cool pluto clock in a garage sale. Yikes! Love your site, PattieWack

Grace,
I’ve got the same Nelson clock! Is yours an original or reproduction? I claimed the one hanging in my grandparents’ kitchen house when they sold their house, but it’s one of the originals from ’50’s and plugs directly into the wall. I can’t find the right recessed outlet to have installed so that I can hang it… thought maybe you’d know what to do?

i have a reissue from vitra and it runs on batteries. have you tried asking your local electrician or lighting store? they can usually give you an answer about something like that without charging you.

caveat emptor: my nara clock stopped working after almost two years, and I have had no luck finding someone to repair it. i also contacted the retailer (myplasticheart.com), but they never responded. one clockmaker i spoke to said that it has a very old and funky mechanism that no one has on hand anymore.

When having an electrician install some light fixtures a couple years ago, i asked him and he said he didn’t know…

I actually work for a lighting store, but since we mostly carry modern stuff I came up empty when looking at what we carry. The biggest problem is actually finding the recessed electic receptacle I need. Maybe a lighting store that sells antique lighting, etc. would have the right part…

I desperately needed a clock for my house, but my boy and I can never agree on things to put on our walls (which why they have been barren for 5 yrs). However, thanks to the link on your old site to Wrapables, I’ve managed to get one that we both really like.

All the gears move and it looks amazing! Love it love it! So thank you in an indirect way.
