when it comes to murals, i’m a changed woman. i used to have a knee-jerk reaction to the word alone- it conjured up images of bad seascapes and fields of flowers. but over the past few years i’ve seen contemporary artists approach the medium in a way that makes me view murals with fresh eyes. some of my favorites? these two pieces by amy ruppel and evan harris. amy and evan created murals for the ace hotel in portland oregon, as well as t-shirts (they’re wearing them) for uniqlo. it makes me want to book a room there right away.
