this week is guide-madness at d*s. we started with yesterday’s chandelier guide and will finish with 4 gift guides starting at 12 pm today. but before i launch the first gift guide i wanted to post a new city guide: baltimore!

i associate charm city with john waters, duff goldman and his motley crew of bakers so it’s wonderful to have more fantastic shops and personalities to associate with baltimore. baltimore designers anne ditmeyer of prêt à voyager and felice cleveland (who was a d*s scholarship finalist!) are to thanks for this wonderful guide- and the personalized google map with everything marked out. i can’t thank them enough for the wonderful guide to eating, shopping and all-around fun in the baltimore area. so, click here to view the full guide, or just click “read more” below!

just a little teaser for any of you who love chairs like i do. the talented jen garrido sent over a photo of some chairs her boyfriend made; he reclaims/rescues chairs and then reworks them for fun. starting in the 2008 they’ll be selling them from their new shop- stay tuned for details, i’ll post them as soon as their shop is open. [thanks, jen!]

ac and i are on the search for a new coffee table. we’ve been pathetically trying to share a lone benjamin stool from ikea and it just won’t hold both of our legs along with dinner and drinks. so we’re on the hunt for something else. at the top of my list? a beautiful new design from austin designer jennifer james wright. jennifer sent over her latest design, the flip-top birch coffee table, this weekend and i’m totally smitten.

jennifer is only 23 but she already runs her own design business called gezellig print, specializing in screen-printed home decor. he new table tops are printed on both sides and can be lifted and flipped to show either side. the table’s images were inspired by austin’s east-side neighborhoods and are all hand-printed. you can check out more of jennifer’s work and pick up one of these lovely tables (in two color schemes) right here for $375. thanks to jennifer for sending over her work- it’s always so wonderful to see young women running their own businesses.
