it’s holiday party time! seriously! it seems like everyone we know is hosting a festive little get together this week, so we thought we’d whip up a super simple, super inexpensive decorative table runner that can be thrown together in less than 10 minutes. we are huge fans of burlap and like to keep a few yards on hand at all times. with its rustic texture and neutral tones, it’s the ultimate, cheap, go-to fabric. after a little rummaging around in our scrap pile, we found a few strips of lemon yellow fabric from hable construction leftover from a chair recover, which we cut into a small grove of trees and attached to the burlap using double-sided fusible webbing and an iron. click here (or click “read more” below) for the full post and how-to instructions!

Here’s what you’ll need:
-Scrap of printed fabric (Repro Depot, Purl Soho, and Etsy have great affordable fabrics you can buy online- Grace)
-Piece of burlap that is long enough to cover your table
-Double sided fusible webbing (such as Stitch-Witchery)
-Scissors
-Iron
1. Place burlap over your table and cut to size. Ours covers about the middle third of our table.
2. To fray the edges of your runner, gently pull away 1/2″ of burlap, one strand at a time.
3. Gather your scraps of fabric and cut out whatever shapes you’d like.
4. Cut the same size shapes out of double-sided fusible webbing (Or you could pin the fusible to the scrap of fabric and cut all the shapes out at the same time.)
5. Arrange the fabric on your burlap (with the fusible sandwiched underneath the shapes) in a configuration that you like.
6. With a warm iron, gently press over the fabric until the fusible webbing bonds the cut pieces to the burlap.
