it’s always a good day when i get to write about a southern artist. i remember when i was younger and taking art classes, it seemed like all of the “good” artists we learned about were from new york or somewhere far away. so it thrills me to no end to read about great artists coming from places like north carolina, georgia, south carolina and now, kentucky. based in louisville, kentucky, artist kathleen lolley graduated from the california institute of the arts with a bfa in experimental animation. after six years in los angeles she returned home to louisville where she creates beautiful illustrations like those above and below. you can find kathleen’s work in small stores and galleries across the country, as well as on the latest album cover ofmy morning jacket. in her “what’s new” section you can see more sculptural pieces and images of kathleen’s show at GRNY. click here to check it all out. thanks, julie!
