We just bought our first "grown up" couch and were really worried about the future of our furniture, but they saved me from a world of frustration. You do want to check their paws periodically to make sure that all the nails still have them stuck on because even one little nail can do damage, but if you're dilligent it works really well. Feliway is great for spraying & stress issues (I love the diffuser), but not so much for scratching. I have to give another shout out for soft claws.
