I don’t know who makes that fabric (can’t wait to find out…) but on a side note, does anyone know how to make a headboard like that? Let’s have a post about it!!

This isn’t exactly the same, but similar. I bought some of this fabric at reprodepot, but they don’t appear to have it anymore.

Well, it would not look exactly like that but here’s an idea. Measure the width of your bed and get as many panels of foam board insulation (you know, those pink 1.5-2 inch thick board?) at Home Depot cut to that width to create the height you want. You can wrap them with cotton batting to pad them and then carefully cover in the desired fabric- leaving some foam exposed on the back. Nail 2 nails per board into the wall so that you can push the board against the nails (where the foam is still exposed on the back)to secure to the wall. Stack them tightly on top of each other up on the wall to the desired height. A budget friendly way to get the paneled/upholstered look…..

It’s a Tom Scheerer room!!! He’s amazing…I interned with him when I first came to NY and fell in love with his style.

The fabric is a too-the-trade…Decorators Walk Katsugi

Hope that helps!

You are all the best! Insta-answer on the fabric! And, I love the headboard diy directions. I’m pulling out my staple gun this weekend! Thanks again.

The photo is from House & Garden. I have been in love with the bed forever. I have it on my bulletin board at home. So pretty.

We’ve all got the same taste!!
I’ve had this magazine page posted on my bulletin board for a couple years!
I think you could get the same results using grasscloth wallpaper, which acts very much like fabric since it’s a natural woven fiber!

Does anyone know where to find that fabric online? I googled “Decorators walk katsugi” and came up with nothing. Then I googled “decorators walk” and the results were all hard-to-maneuver sites. I must have that fabric in my bedroom!!

decorator’s walk is a line owned and carried by f schumacher. it is available to the trade and generally an interior designer or architect could purchase it for you should you decide to buy… good luck, it is lovely.

or you can purchase to the trade fabrics by contacting the design pro at the decoratoration & design building 212.759.5408 (aka the D&D). domino usually cites them as a source for to the trade items.

Canadian House & Home had good instructions for making upholstered wall panels (like those used for the headboard) a few years ago . . . I seem to recall it was the January 2004 issue but I might be off by a year or so!
