As I mentioned yesterday, fabrics are a passion of mine, and I really enjoy seeing how different artists and designers apply fabrics in different settings. Fabric toys have so much scope for experimentation with colour and texture and pattern that I am not surprised how many artists are making dolls and soft toys.

Mimi Kirchner is one of my absolute favourite doll makers, and her big men make me smile - I love what she is doing these days with toile and making these tattooed bearded men dolls.

Florence Forrest is an Australian artist who makes gorgeous soft birds- and sells them under the name flying star toys. This bird is called a ’snow walker’.

Lizette Greco collaborates with her children to make toys from recycled fabrics based on their creative drawings. This image is of Leon the Lion.

Cathy Cullis makes whimsical mixed media dolls, her dolls are made
from a combination of paper, fabrics, fibre, embroidery and knitting.
