florals

floral-roundup1.JPG
it all started with this washed roses roberts radio at cath kidston’s online shop: now i’m totally hooked on florals. i’ve never been a flowers kind of girl (i’ve always preferred stripes) but lately i find myself drawn toward anything floral, in particular- densely packed florals. those trowels and thermoses? my favorites. they feel both modern and “english rose” at the same time. so i thought i’d round up some of my favorites in the market right now. above, clockwise from top left: peony petal wellies $58, floral thermoses at patina stores $24 each, washed roses roberts radio $392, rose study light switch covers $24-$32, 1890’s pressed horn peapod brooch $80 (i guess this is more garden than floral, but i love it), saipua coffee mint soap $8, floral hand trowel $15.95.

I love that radio - how fun!
Can’t wait to start using more vintage florals this year . Thanks.

i worked at cath kidston in london for 6 months (the legnth of my work permit) and dearly miss walking into that burst of color and pattern every morning. it is even sadder now that their american operations have closed their doors. seeing their radio on your page made me smile though & get my day off on the right foot!

You’re so in tune with spring runway fashion Grace! Tiny florals are the thing that all the fashion blogs I read are talking about. hee hee

If you want the proof, check out Balenciaga SP08 on style.com

That radio is adorable!
Spring must be in the air (I know I am craving the warm weather) - NY Magazine just did a floral product round up as well.

I love saipua soaps. Have you been over to the store in Red Hook? Smells so good!

About the trowel. It’s the perfect piece to include. All things floral COME from the garden, Grace. (wink). And the trowels would be a great home accessory for scooping bath salts or foodstuffs (depending on materials). Gosh, maybe even a shoe horn. I hope maybe you’ll talk to Gayla Trail at yougrowgirl.com and see if she’s up for a guest blog spot later this summer. Gardens and the landscape have been inspiring decor (indoors and out) since the beginning of time.

I’m glad to see florals making a come back. The dresses in the new Prada ads are dreamy, too.

Not quite bi-annuals, it’s interesting how every 3-5 years stylish florals come back and feel just right. Right now, with the war dragging on and this country’s new found interest in the environment a touch of floral is good. In the right place and the right conditions, florals work well. Very much like growing real roses!
