happy new year!

hanging1.jpg
happy new year everyone! i hope you all had a fantastic holiday break and enjoyed ringing in the new year with friends and family. here at d*s head quarters we celebrated 2008 by playing rock band until 1 in the morning with our cats watching. even though our cats were less than supportive of our musical skills i thought i’d dedicate the first post of 2008 to something they’d enjoy- a new modern pet scratcher from modern critter. this bent ply scratcher utilizes colorful flor tiles attached with velco for the scratching (i can say, from experience, that cats love to destroy flor tiles- ours make it their personal mission) and a piece of walnut bent ply that can be hung a number of different ways to suit their scratching needs. knowing our cats they’d just scratch the wood part and move on but i figured someone out there might have cats that are less distructive then ours. the moderncritter scratcher will set you back a cool $315 so it’s certainly not for everyone but if you’re in the market for a high-end pet piece, this one’s pretty sweet. click here for more info and here for more modern pet good-ness. see you tomorrow with regular posting!

That’s the prettiest cat-scratcher I’ve ever seen. Happy New Year!

Wow. We also “celebrated 2008 by playing rock band until 1 in the morning with our cats watching.” Our cats were completely dumbfounded.

Our screen-name is “byrnevictim” look for us! Are you up for a rock’n'roll challenge?

Happy New Year!

Okay the cat scratcher is awesome. Of course my husband is trying to figure out how he can make it better lol.
What a great feature. This is my first but not last visit to design sponge.
Happy 2008

Happy New Year! I love this cat scratcher, a bit too pricey for me though! I just adopted a cat from BARC on Saturday so I have been on the lookout for modern cat products that I (and Pacha!) can dream about having!

vanessa

ha! thanks for the challenge! once we’ve got our act down a little bit more we’ll definitely take you up on the offer. right now i’m still trying to master the drum parts in the “easy” level.

kimberly-

i got my cat turk at BARC! i’m so glad to hear someone else found their pet there- they’re a fantastic organization.

Happy 2008! Goodness, it is difficult to find good looking, attractive cat furniture, I must say.

has anyone had any experience with this scratcher? I like that it hangs on the wall, and the price is better…

this was a nice feature on cat scratchers, but would love to see a design sponge version!

the other night i saw one of those crazy carpeted cat towers on the curb near my flat, and i turned to my companion and told him that intervention would be necessary if i ever had one of those in my home. so, i concur with amy e above- how about a d*s feature on pet furniture that we actually want in our space? i love this cat scratcher and want more of the like please!

I second *tania’s idea for a d*s feature on pet furniture! :)

would love to see a d*s roundup of kitty litter box covers that are attractive and perhaps look like furniture. oh, and don’t cost thousands of dollars like the few that i’ve seen!

As soon as I saw this I thought “Ikea hack” because I predict it will be less than 3 months before someone pairs this sans legs:

with some velcro and Flor tiles!

I think it’s really cute and wish I could swing the $$.

Just wonderful, Grace! Would love to see a pet round-up on Design*Sponge someday!

there’s a DIY section on the moderncat site that has some good (& more affordable) ideas.
ps. I need an intervention because I have one of those crazy cat towers and it is an eyesore!
