Sneak Peek: You Guessed It

bowiestyle-reveal-1.jpg
well done to everyone who spotted my sneak peak yesterday was in fact a tiny miniature house. its a tough one to reveal that ‘yes’ for a hobby i made a dolls house - it makes me sound like a nerd. but for me it was just a chance to decorate and dream up colour schemes and themes. unlike many houses mine is set in the year 2004 and as its frozen in time for example you will find the 2004 ikea catalogue on the bookshelf.ive tried to put in things that i really have or use. for example i made these pencils are made from cocktail sticks.

in this picture you can see my miniature david bowie artwork and then my real david bowie.
ive tried to replicate my life in miniature. and below is an overall shot of the house open and then closed.

the tins of food were made from a piece of dowl painted silver and then wrapped with labels. i thought it would be fun to post these pictures and see if i could make it look real. obviously i couldn’t because so many of you spotted it straight away.

I thought it was a dollhouse, but I had to keep looking to try and figure out why. It is done so well that it was very hard to know for sure! I love dollhouses too.

I hate to admit that you fooled me. Obviously I need to start looking more closely at pictures instead of skimming through to get the overall feel. Still, the living room with its silver frames made me want to go and spray paint all my frames silver. I loved it!!

(I did look at the computer, though, and think, “How can anyone work on something that small??”)

Wow I am SO impressed… and inspired. I’ve always wanted to do this. But now I’m intimidated because I don’t think I could make mine look half as good! Great job!

I was completely fooled! Granted, I didn’t spend a lot of time looking, but I remember thinking “Gosh, I wish my bookshelves were that perfect. Note to self: buy entire series of guide books from single publisher for more attractive bookshelves.” Fantastic job.

Ha ha - I love Sonya’s comment about matching books. That would make for very lovely bookshelves indeed. I’m so jealous that you get to play with doll houses and miniatures - how fun! I especially love the Olive Oil bottle.

You almost trick me! But I worked for movie special effects AND I used to create dollhouses as a hobby.
Yours is the cutest ever! I love the coulour schemes and the tiny details.
