Welcome, Print + Pattern!

banner-P&P
i’m totally honored to be guest blogging here at design*sponge this week. im normally to be found over at print & pattern, where i post monday to friday on the subject i love most in the world ‘pattern design’. i’m based in the UK and spend my days designing and researching this subject. surface pattern design is a field that covers all manner of products from wallpaper to textiles, tableware, papergoods, fashion, in fact anything that needs a surface decoration.

when i started blogging back in march 2006 i didn’t want anyone to know i was doing it, and decided to use a pseudonym. the day i signed up to blogger i needed to think of name quick and glanced around the room. on the shelf i had a book called ‘bowie style’ by mark paytress. its a coffee table book full of pictures on the various fashions and styles of my hero david bowie. and so its just stuck, several years later im still writing under the name bowie. just by accident. but like the artist banksy i love the degree on annonymity it gives me.

so what am i going to do with my week here at the sponge ? well hopefully im going to get your creative juices fired up on where to look for inspiration, plus looking at my selection of favorite british designers. now unlike grace im not very good at writing, but i do have a vast picture library of research to share. but in true design*sponge tradition i wanted to start the week with a ‘sneak peak‘ – and show you around my georgian town house which was decorated in 2004.

ACTUALLY, I prefer your writing style. Doesn’t seem forced. :)
