Greetings from the great (yet sometimes rainy) city of Glasgow. I am thrilled to have been asked to contribute to Design*Sponge, a blog that I have long admired. Though I am a native Texan, I have lived in Scotland for almost three years. I have grown extremely fond of this beautiful and diverse country, but it’s the people that I have truly come to love.

For those of you who read my blog All the Best you know that I am a ‘people person’ and that I have huge admiration for entrepreneurs. I love getting to know the creative minds behind the work and each week I profile trend-setters from the world of design, wine, food, travel and art. Some of my recent profiles/interviews include: Ivanka Trump, Kelly Wearstler, Michael Devine, Miles Redd and Chris and Suzanne Sharp (The Rug Company).
Whether it’s art, wine, shoes, fabric or paint I am always in search of the very best and I chronicle my findings each on All the Best. This week however, I will focus on the art and design world in Scotland, especially Glasgow.

Like many former industrial towns, Glasgow has undergone a tremendous revitalization as a center of culture and style set against a backdrop of outstanding architecture. Victorian red and honey sandstone buildings, medieval spires, neo-gothic towers, and the architecture of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, combined with glass and steel buildings create a vibrant and contemporary city.
Luckily for those of us who live here and those who visit, Glasgow has more than twenty museums and galleries – many of them free – including the Burrell Collection, Mackintosh House, Gallery of Modern Art and the recently refurbished Kelvingrove Museum.

This week I will introduce you to you a few Scottish artists and spotlight the fabulous and provocative textiles and wallpapers from the design studio of Timorous Beasties.
