based in new york, designer nadia belalia creates lighting and sculptures using thin metal mesh. i loved her “sardine” ceiling lamps right away because they remind me of those collapsible colanders that i grew up watching my grandmother use (or the colander light genevieve made on trading spaces back in the day). though she grew up in the south of france (swoon), nadia moved to nyc in 1989 and has been inspired by the “abundance and rawness” of industrial material in the city. her work includes floor, ceiling, wall and table lamps that give new life to reused, industrial materials. click here to view the full collection and contact nadia about purchasing.
