dutch touch art

when it comes to artwork, i’m an avid print-collector. they allow me to have works by my favorite artists without having to put a major dent in my bank account. but lately i’ve felt the urge to save up for more traditional pieces and original paintings. my dream would be to own original works from all of my favorite independent artists, but i also have a soft spot for traditional dutch art. my best friend from high school lives and works and amsterdam and when we went to visit him last year i was blown away by the incredible art in public spaces and in more traditional museums. dutch still life paintings have such an incredible way with color and light. if you’re looking to add work like this to your home, check dutch touch: a new mother-daughter team that designs and imports a unique collection of hand-painted decorative oil paintings. their collection is really fantastic and is bursting with colorful florals- just click here to check it out.

these paintings are great. i think they have just a tiny touch of kitsch value to make them very relevant in a modern/eclectic home.

there is something about the light in those dutch paintings, isn’t there? I must admit I have long been an admirer of Vermeer. He doesn’t have the kitsch though, so somehow it makes him harder to work into a modern setting.

Oh, how I long for the room for hat racks, and purse racks and coat racks…..

I love this. Do you what the price range of their paintings are?

I saw a painting in the still life section (red apples with green bowl) by Henk Helmantel (born 1945) on the website, without his name. Strange.
