book storage roundup

today is all about before and afters but i wanted to sneak in one more guide that i didn’t finish in time for tuesday’s posts. you guys have been asking me for book storage ideas for months and i apologize for taking so long. now that the diy contest is finally over (thank you to everyone who entered!) i feel like i can breathe a little bit more and get back to regular posts. so i’ve collected a wide range of book storage options from book cases and shelves to low storage units and more decorative options. i hope you’ll enjoy the guide and, as always, if you have suggestions you’d like to add feel free to share them in the comment section below. the book storage options continue way, way after the jump so click here for the full guide or click “read more” below. enjoy!

So much goodness all in one place. Of course, my favorite is something that would never EVER fit in my house…the logan suite. That is freaking awesome! It looks very martha-ish.

that rolling bookcase is brilliant. it’s bumped everything else and is #1 on my wish list.

Just wanted to add something to the list for those who want bigger bookshelves or wider structures for lining the walls. We’re buying our bookcases from Smart Furniture. http://www.smartfurniture.com/shop/bookshelf.html?att=1
They’re able to be customized on the site before you buy, and you don’t have any hardware to deal with when you put them together. HTH!

This is fantastic - I have been agonizing over bookshelves for years, and we’re finally going to start spending some of our wedding furniture fund! Woo Hoo!

Maxine Snider’s Villa Tower is also great for books! http://www.maxinesniderinc.com/collection/storage.html

We sell both Blu Dot’s D2 and Chicago shelving at our store and we love them both! You can’t imagine how sturdy these things are. We are constantly climbing on them to put art up high or dragging them around the showroom to display them somewhere else. They are such a high quality at a great price!

for me, it’s all about atlas’ custom shelving. atlaseast.com

if i’m going to spend money, then this is what I’m going to get. I have a small space, and these floater shelves are a perfect mix of airy, modern, spacious and they let the light move around!!

Some of those are VERY lustworthy. After being inspired recently by the DIY’s, I can see that some of these are perfect DIY projects. The bench box with pad and castors has me thinking!

I have been lopoking for a few weeks now for a good deal (I personally am staying away from cheap brakeable ones from ikea etc) and was happy to see this post. very handy.
For anyone looking for a bare one you can fuss with (semi- diy) if you are in the bay area, I have my high-consideration to ‘books and bookcases’ off the duboce triangle near the castro. very cool, basic durable stuff (various finishes you can request, unfinished etc-)

These bookcases are great! I appreciate all of your compiled info. Do you have any ideas on a cabinet that is 36 ” wide x 10″ deep x 36-40″ high with shelves and cabinet doors for a small bathroom cabinet? Thanks, Denise Haddock

I was ready to place an order for the West Elm stacked modular bookcase in white-(so pretty!) until i saw the 19 page assembly instructions. I think paying $300.00 + shipping, taxes PLUS assembly is too much. What do you think, readers? Is it still a good deal?

Oh so lovely bookcases. But I heart the all white ones especially the stacked modular bookcase.
Thanks for sharing.
