Author/journalist extraordinaire and the practically perfect place she calls home…
Self-styled in both the literary and design worlds, Ms. Caroline Tiger’s portfolio includes topics as far-ranging as etiquette and long-distance relationships to George Nakashima, letterpress print shops, Emeco chairs and a quest for the perfect couch. Not to be outdone, she’s also a design blogger and boasts the lovely home as well. Now that’s my kinda gal… ;)
Without further adieu and from Caroline to you, a brief play-by-play on her decor and the fabulous furnishings within:
1. I collect brown transferware from the late 1800s (the Aesthetic Period). Here are three little aesthetic transferware dishes I got on ebay next to a piece of architectural salvage that’s a fan-shaped screen with a punched out pattern, from a dealer at Shupp’s Grove in Lancaster County.
2. The silhouettes are by Black Apple. The lamp on the left is a photo vellum lamp by A.E. Jennings; the one on the right is from Nashville and is an image from a vintage postcard. The circle pillow is by Galbraith and Paul.
3. On the top shelf are foreign editions of my guides to etiquette and to surviving a long-distance relationship. L to R, they are Italian, Japanese, Finnish and Russian. The silhouette postcards are from ebay. And I think I have every guide on Paris published by The Little Bookroom (stacked on the bottom shelf). Their books are lovely.
4. The Seven Sins plates are by Trixiedelicious. On the right is “Rolled-up Carpet” by Susan Tiger (my cousin) from her recent show at Gallery Joe.”
