fierce and fiercer (diy contest update)

bsagala.jpg
diy wednesday posts are coming up next but i had to share three quick things before we get started.

first, thank you to the hundreds of people (500 to be precise- yikes!) who entered the d*s diy contest. the quality and quantity of this year’s entries is overwhelming so i’m going to need a few more days to get everything together. i don’t want to hastily edit the entries down to 10 so i’m going to have everything ready to vote NEXT wednesday, march 12. i apologize for the delay but you guys were really on fire this year so i need a few extra days to make the tough decisions about narrowing down a few hundred to 10. gulp.

second, i think we have the fiercest contributor around here at d*s. that’s right, anne, queen of modern china, posed with my favorite project runway contestant at the baltimore school for the arts gala this weekend. i can’t tell who is more fierce. all i know is that i love christian’s hair and anne’s dress. i’m crossing my fingers that christian wins tonight. i mean, he’s sort of a big deal.

in other fierce news (ok, maybe less fierce and more “cute”), happy owl glass has a lovely new print available at little paper planes. this “baby owls” print is only $10 and is off-the-charts cute. perfect for a new baby’s room…or my living room. click here to pick up a print online. [thanks, kelly!]

Nooo! I’ve been waiting anxiously since Sunday to see the finalists! I understand, though. Narrowing hundreds down to 10 isn’t easy.

As for project runway, Christian is pretty fierce, I agree, but I’m pulling for Jillian. You can view their final collections online at http://www.bravotv.com/Project_Runway/season/4/final_collections//index.php
and I must say, I think Christian’s collection is beautiful but a bit too narrow in scope – lots of the same look coming down the runway over and over, in my opinion.

Hundreds… and they’re all good… so I’m not assured of a win?

Man it’s going to be a long week! Good luck!

it’s going to be a long week indeed!
I guess if my project makes it to the final 10 I’ll feel a winner already

I’ve waited this long, I supposed I can wait a bit longer ;)

What a job though, 100 entries! Don’t pull your hair out!

Wow! From hundreds of great ideas/submissions I’d loooove to check ‘em out! Will it be possible for us to see any beyond the 10 you choose?

it’s actually more like 500. sooo many entries came in right at the deadline i didn’t count them until now. it’s madness!

i’ll be posting (somewhere, maybe a flickr slideshow) my favorites so you’ll definitely see beyond the top 10. i’ve only gotten it down to 123 right now…

perhaps you should give yourself (and us) a break and narrow it down to the top 20 or 25?

i’m such a christian fan! in the beginning he bugged me a bit, but i’m totally rooting for him and all his “fierceness” on tonight’s show! :)
(rami is pretty great too!….and i shed a tear when chris was sent home last week!)

OMG- I just realized why Christian looks familiar! I used to sneak out of the Naval Academy to get my hair cut at Bubbles – the salon where he worked.
