seattle: fish videos and biz lady notes

1194.jpg
i’ll be posting a few photos from my trip to the pacific northwest today. leaving so quickly after getting engaged was a little sad but i had a fantastic time and wanted to thank everyone who came and helped with the biz ladies meetups in both portland (200+ ladies!) and seattle (100+!). the lovely ladies of portland already created a yahoo page to keep in touch after the meetup so i created one for the women in seattle right here. you can sign up and keep the meetups going on your own, or just have a way to get in touch with other designers in your town. i’m going to create a guide to starting your own local biz ladies meetup so stay tuned for that.

also, local seattle photographer eliza truitt wanted to offer a free photography workshop (she’s a professional photog) for local biz ladies who need help with their product photography. she’d like to hold the first event on april 26th at 2pm (free to the first 10 people) so click here to contact eliza about the event- this is a GREAT resource and i hope you’ll all take her up on the kind offer!

in other news- i’m madly in love with seattle. from the second amy and i drove into town, i was smitten with the views, the city, the neighborhoods, everything (thanks to asha and bagley for the incredible tour!). if we end up leaving ny and austin doesn’t work out, seattle is now at the top of my list. i could hang out at the fish market and eat chowder in a bread bowl every day. seattle was just plain fantastic. i’ve created a slideshow of some of my seattle pictures right here and there are videos of grace bonney, professional fish-catcher right below (i finally caught it in the last video). thanks to amy for shooting my fish-catching debut!

These photos are wonderful and somewhat nostalgic at the same time. Seattle was love at first sight for me as well. I’m due for another visit. Thanks for posting and welcome back to the East Coast!

i’m so glad you loved seattle, since i’m really missing new york city these days and sometimes it takes a visitor’s enthusiasm to see what’s around you. and hey, my friend owns la spiga! did you have the gnocchi? to die for.

I lived in Seattle for 6 years before returning to my East Coast home. I try not to think too much about life there, because I get sad, cranky, and overly nostalgic. It is a wonderful place. Thanks for bringing back some of the sights and even the smells and sounds.

aw, it’s so weird to see pictures of seattle from a move fresh to LA as of a week ago.

the city itself definitely has its charms, and it’s a very strange feeling the nostalgia i have for seattle now that i’m gone. in any case, good luck with your decision and do keep us updated!

Seattle stole my heart several years ago when I was there for a wedding. I think that city is about as close to perfect (for me) as a city can be. All my friends expected me to fall hard for SF, but Seattle…THAT’S where I want to be.

grace! it was so nice to see you, if only for a few minutes in between your busy night (thanks to your wonderful dad for the tip!) there really is no place like seattle, (even though i’m totally biased, from all the places i’ve been it’s true) so glad that you love it as well.

You are amazing. Your suggestions for ‘Make Contact’ simplified the process of writing a press release so well that I’ve finally written one! Thank you so much.

So glad you had a great trip to the PNW Grace! And congrats on your engagement! My husband of 12 years and I met, and we were married at the Cathedral downtown in Seattle, so it was always be a special place for us. We now live in L.A. near family and am looking forward to your L.A. Ladies Biz Night! Do not see it on your events page…will check back soon because I believe the last I read, it was to be in March here. Can’t wait!…

As a British Seattleite of very recent vintage, I can’t tell you how nice it is when someone else falls in love with the place too.

And you only saw it in February! Come again in summer - no rain, NO HUMIDITY, crisp clear skies, hot sun sparkling on sea and lakes and mountains in every direction, beautiful sunsets etc. etc.

You’d be very welcome to come and drink mojitos on our deck any time…

Thanks so much again for the BLMU and for now the Meet Up page…

I’m so glad you loved Seattle - I do too! Paola is right though, you’ll have to come back in the summer . . . February is nothing compared to July or August.
And thanks for a wonderful meet-up - your PR talk was so so helpful.

I’m so glad you like Seattle! I’m originally from the southeast and moved to Seattle about 9 years ago. It’s funny- I always want to move back East!

You caught a lucky weather break last week, but usually the winters are nothing but gloom and doom. :(

…but the summers. There’s no place lovelier. :)

Wish I could have been there,
glad to hear you liked Seattle.
It is a special place, especially on a sunny day with mountain views at every angle. Such a wonderful
initative you have taken, let me know if you would like to come to Copenhagen.

Hi Grace! I was so sorry I couldn’t make it to the meet up. So happy you had fun and that Seattle was good to you. If you’re ever this way again, I hope to meet you. Be well, keep inspiring us! xo Blair
