since my engagement, i promised that d*s wouldn’t become an all-weddings, all-the-time blog, and i promise to stay true to my word. but now that we’ve done a little wedding location visiting i thought i’d share some of my rough inspiration pages just for fun. i’d like to keep a large portion of our wedding private because it’s one of the few aspects of my life that isn’t already online but i figured a little inspiration scrap-booking couldn’t hurt. and don’t worry, if you’re itching for wedding material we have a series of wedding-themed guest blogs coming up soon. our trip down to savannah was cut a little bit short because of my sickness (great time to catch the flu, grace) but this much we know, this time next year, ac and i will be tying the knot in sunny savannah, ga. our location details aren’t finalized but it will be outside and i hope to be surrounded by spanish moss, azaleas and big, beautiful magnolia leaves.

because i have so much time to do planning, i’m going to DIY as much of the big day/weekend as possible- focusing on using kraft paper, tan linen or soft burlap as the background. the entire d*s site re-design was planned around that color as the backdrop because for me, everything looks so great against that textured neutral. where to go from there? i’m torn between bright spring greens with accents of aged metallics (flecked and antique feeling) or rich reds and magentas mixed in with pinks (accented with a little bit of moss green here and there). i figure when we get down to the details i’ll lean on our baker, chery day of back in the day bakery, for some artistic input. also, because we’re getting married in savannah i plan to work with as many scad alums and students and possible- i want to keep things simple and local. so, here are just a few of my ideas so far, i hope you’ll enjoy them. if you need more wedding inspiration be sure to check out my favorites: style me pretty, brooklyn bride and martha stewart weddings. [image above: to say that i love that bouquet is a massive understatement. i neeed that bouquet- down to the striped ribbon and little buckle. oh man, i love it. and why is that woman in there? well she has a gorgeous red/magenta top and is sitting against a gorgeous olivey/mossy wall- it looks better in person, sorry]

[image above: forsyth park, my favorite spot in savannah; a pretty feather head option and a red trio color trio that i love]

[image above: paper lanterns for an outdoor wedding; beautiful pink and red blooms in a gold vase (i love a nice aged gold with red/pink flowers); paper flower tags from royal buffet at etsy]

[image above: paper flowers (so fun), bright spring greens, a silvery green sash, an aged gold print from a box of mine, shades of green dresses and feathers in a bouquet (i'm a sucker for soft feathers)]

[image above: not the cake so much as the print in the back- a gorgeous vintage floral with bright pops of color that feel modern; a little daisy cake i'd be proud to call my own; paper flags- we'll have to mark off an outdoor wedding somehow so i hope to commission some beautiful handmade fabric ribbons and banner/flags (tasteful ones, of course) from the scad fiber dept.]

[image above: hair (to put it up or keep it down? only the humidity will decide that i guess]

[image above: inspired by julia rothman's cards for hello lucky, i thought it would be fun to have a collection of vintage frames hanging at different heights from wire at the reception to make impromptu photo spots for guests. that way they, and the gorgeous garden or park, becomes an instant work of art]
