i’ve had a bit of a crazy start this morning so i wanted to share some beautiful textile work while i try to take care of a few things. an alumna of the savannah college of art and design, anna drastik is an incredible fiber artist now based in new york city. these incredible textile pieces, ‘phase 2 #4′ and ‘phase 2- #5′ (which are part of her thesis show) took my breath away this morning and i couldn’t resist sharing them. the way anna plays with light in her textiles makes me want to tear down my stuffy curtains and hang something airy and dreamlike in the windows (i don’t think her pieces are intended for this use but a girl can dream). these two pieces feature screenprinted graphics, devore burn-out graphic shapes and silicone coating- and are designed to focus on the additive and subtractive processes in design. though she currently works as a designer at a streetwear label by day, anna works as a textile artist by night and on the weekends; you can check out more of her work right here. [thanks, anna!]
[update: anna's main site doesn't seem to be working so i've changed the link to connect with a video of her show at scad]
