things i’m loving: savannah edition

this morning ac and i are waking up in sunny savannah, georgia. the air is thick with the smell of flowers and i couldn’t be happier to be in one of my favorite cities picking out a place to get married. so today i’m dedicating this particular installment of ‘things i’m loving‘ to savannah. the city is full of history and beautiful architectural detailing so today i’m feeling all things antique- in soft colors like eggshell and moss. i’ll be back with new sneak peeks at 12!

When I was little we had chickens and on easter mom hid eggs like these in the nesting boxes. When we collected the eggs on easter, we were stunned to see REAL chocolate eggs from our chickens!!

That is so exciting that you are scouting places in Savannah to get married. When I lived there, it seemed like wedding central in the spring… and you have to take a carriage tour after the ceremony.

Word of advice though, avoid Savannah at all costs during the Summer. It is so hot and humid that you insta-sweat… not to mention that it is very uncomfortable. Great post!

Ohhh I need to talk to you!! First of all, congratulations. I have been planning a wedding IN SAVANNAH for the past year, and it’s finally happening on May 3. It’s been the most fun I’ve had in my life. You can check out my wedding website at http://naomimarriesmike.com (linked off of my main website as well). You are going to love getting married there.

I have done tons of research on places and vendors, and at this point consider myself quite the Savannah-wedding expert. :-)

Of course being a bride I love to gush about my wedding plans so please drop me an email if you want to compare notes. I can direct you to a good caterer and florist, as well as warn you about the worst, most swindling, slimey wedding planner in town.

And…after May 3 I’ll be trying to get rid of a bunch of wedding stuff, so I’ll be selling for cheap, if you have a place there you could store things. Hundreds of candles and holders, and some furniture that I’ve designed and my uncle is building just for the reception. (I live in Dallas so I can’t take any of it home with me.)

I’m so excited for you, and can’t wait to hear more!

The girls said you stopped by the store over the weekend. I hope we can catch up before you head home.

Hi,
I really like the furniture selections. I especially like the antique english server, but not the price!

I make furniture - love doing pieces like that one (servers, sideboards, etc) - and would be thrilled if someone would commission me to build that one… my prices are WAY more reasonable, too.

Thanks for the inspiration,
Josh

Welcome to Savannah! So glad you are enjoying our beautiful city. As a transplant from the North, I definitely appreciate the charm of this city (and the weather!)

I too am getting married in Savannah - June 28th.

If you need any recommendations (I found fabulous vendors and am planning from afar)- I’d love to share! My website is down right now - but feel free to email!

Good Luck!

Susan, please HELP!! I’m trying to plan a wedding from afar in Savannah too! It’s supposed to be in August 08. I need to find a garden that has a nearby indoor facility where we can have the reception. Any ideas?
