i’ve really been enjoying julia rothman’s guest blog posts this week- especially this morning’s special sneak peek meets before and after. why? because it belongs to the fantastic design team, also design, that redid design*sponge this past october! jenny and matt from also own a beautiful home in chicago that they’ve been renovating from the ground up for a while now. today julia’s bringing us a sneak peek into their home to see the changes they’ve made so far. my favorite portion is the kitchen backsplash- a real chalkboard salvaged for a local school. click here to check it out!

Really beautifully done!

The chalk board application is way cool. I’m sure it was a royal pain to do, but you achieved a look that was worth trouble. Sure, the canned stuff works, but this looks richer to me. Plus, your reuse saved both money (you’d have needed several cans of paint and primer to get that fine of coverage) and eliminated several things from ending up in a landfill or at recycling. How cool is that?

The variegated plant on the tv stand looks like fireworks exploding to me……a mini-celebration in a pot.

I really, really love the Chambers stoves–and the link. Thank you for that!! I had to sell my precious 1920’s Wedgwood a while back and I think you’ve put me on to considering a possible replacement.

I love the chalkboard paint backsplash. I’m looking for an interesting idea for my kitchen backsplash and chalkboard paint is now on the list of ideas. Thanks.
