new: good shape design

wayne3-5.jpg
tomorrow ac and i are heading down to va. beach for an engagement party my family is throwing us. i’m so excited to go home, dig my swimsuit out of the closet and dip my toes in the ocean. few things make me happier than feeling warm sand on your feet and smelling the salt air while you relax in a comfortable beach chair. since i’ve got beach on the brain i thought it would be perfect timing to mention these great new coral art prints from wayne pate at good shape design. too bad our beach has more plastic bags than coral (at the least it did the last time i was home), but it’s nice to imagine something like this growing near the shore instead. click here to check out wayne’s art collection (and here for prints) for sale.

Oooh…an engagement party at the beach? That sucks, Grace. Engagement parties are dreadful and being at the beach only makes it worse! Love your heart…you’ll be okay I’m sure. Just struggle through. Oh yeah…I feel SO sorry for you. ;) (hee-hee?)

It breaks my heart when I see people littering up our beautiful beach, but really I don’t see a whole lot of it. I really enjoy Va Beach all year round…especially the smaller beaches up in North End and Chicks Beach and down in Pungo.

When I lived near Back Bay in Hampton Va my dog Terry and I collected barrels and bags of trash as we walked through the salt marshes. I have read that the bags, etc come from storm drains carrying trash from the streets and boats dumping their trash overboard. How our inheritance has been squandered! The ripe smell of a salt marsh, full of life and birth and death and decay is the stuff of poetry and legends. Our estuaries are the equivalent of the Caribean’s coral, but it seems we never value what we know.
