all I have to say is this is the most cheerful looking chair I’ve seen! It’s like a big smiley face. Great work!

This chair really is a hit! And inspiring – I would love to be able to reupholster! Any ideas for somewhat affordable classes in NYC, or is that wishful thinking?

Thanks!

So cute! That chair was clearly in need of a facelift.

Wow, the painted pattern detail really elevates this upholstery job. This is a wonderful chair now!

Ooo, I especially love the detail up on the back of the chair!

Come on over and redo mine for me! You wouldn’t believe the shape that it’s in….

Wow! Very bright and fun. I love how she extended the print pattern onto the back and bottom of the chair.

ooh, wonderful redo. there’s just something supremely satisfying about before-and-after projects… even when someone else did all the creative work! well done!

Ain’t it enough allready with those brignt colors everywhere? :) It seems that there’s only light blue, light green and sometimes pink colors there :D I would have just washed the wood and enliven it up with some oil or varnish to reveal the texture. That bright painting just ruins the wood, and you can never do the “before-after” after this anymore :) No?

Great work! the fabric is great, and repeating the pattern on the chair was a great idea! Lovely color too!

Such an improvement! I love how they’ve added a little of the design from the fabric to the back of the chair, in white to contrast with the blue. Lovely!

Leona is a true artist. She puts her cheerful heart into all her creations. All the beauty she has within spills over into everything she touches. She is my friend, and an inspiration to many. Keep up the amazing work!

I agree with ag, the after is so bright that I could see anyone getting sick of the color combo and patterns after just a month. The structure and profile of this chair is so interesting, why take away from that with brightly painted colors and patterns? I say keep it simple, refinish the wood and no one will be wanted to re-paint it anytime soon.

I don’t want to crush Leona’s creative spirit but I am horrified every time i see a before and after where some beautiful wood just needed a little restoration and someone goes paint happy on it with some very-soon-to-be if not already outdated bright color. And the prints are always so loud and cheap. like Target’s back to school supplies from 7 years ago. I would encourage people to do a little more editing and thinking when it comes to these projects. No more teal and white with psychedelic onions please!!
