Keep it Comin’

[All Images of R-20th Century on Franklin Street]

Since I’ve got furniture on the brain I wanted to share a few more finds with you here. I’m lucky enough to live in Tribeca, a surprisingly furniture-centric neighborhood that is not often thought of as such. Right next to my building on White Street is the classic New York shop of Steven Sclaroff. They moved to this location about a year ago and it is fantastic for amazing vintage finds. Though Sclaroff is known mostly for his furniture finding abilities they also have one of the best collections of vintage accessories I’ve ever seen.

Around the corner on Franklin Street is another incredible furniture gallery, R-20th Century. Headed by Evan Snyderman and Zesty Meyers R has been showing amazingly rare mid-century pieces for over ten years now. If you are in the neighborhood, though they are very different, both Steven Sclaroff and R-20th Century are must-sees for any furniture junkie. Outside the neighborhood (and New York for that matter) some other things that have caught my eye as of late: Semigood Furniture out of Seattle and San Francisco; Detershin out of Los Angeles; and TeDe in Japan. All worth checking out if and when you have the chance. Till tomorrow… [image above: Wendell Castle's ethereal 'White Edition' Cloud Shelf in gel-coated reinforced plastic (signed and numbered edition of 50, 2006). The iconic PK 54 dining table with Porsgruun marble top and chromium plated steel legs (E. Kold Christensen, Denmark, 1970s, maple extension ring included), coupled with Kjaerholm's PK 15 chairs with steambent ash frames and woven cane seats (PP Møbler, Denmark, 1990s).]

Hi there…just wanted to point out that all the images above are from R-20th Century. Sorry, I don’t think that is too clear. Thanks to R-20th for supplying them!

Does anyone know who the designer/mfg is on the drippy white pendant lamps? I’ve been looking for them!

Hi Elizabeth! I’m fairly certain that the lights are by Jeff Zimmerman. R-20th Century has been working with him for quite some time. They are really amazing pieces. You should get in touch with Evan and/or Zesty there and they can tell you for sure (evans@r20thcentury.com or zesty@r20thcentury.com). Good luck!
