it’s summer and all i want to do is get back in my zipcar and drive back to the hamptons and the land of preppy summer clothes. while we were there our summer intern christy said, “doesn’t this weather just make you want to wear white linen pants?”. it sure does. it also makes me want to wear striped shirts, find a classic navy blue swimsuit and invest in a nice straw hat for the beach. but until i can find all three of those here are some of my favorite, slightly preppy pieces. along with a few extras i’ve been eying, just for fun.

chair makeovers are always my favorite because a simple coat of paint and new fabric only take a few hours and can make a huge difference. this lovely butter-yellow example comes from jessica davids at jdavids on etsy.

I love vintage anything but my true favorite vintage purchases are accessories. Whether it’s a really cute bag, earrings or a belt I’m all over it! Here are just a few pieces from my vintage collection.

vintage_access2.jpg
I adore vintage clutches and little coin purses. The belts are from my mother’s closet, I wear them all the time, probably too much.

Most of these were found at flea-markets or in boutiques and others were given to me as gifts. Some are new pieces that incorporate vintage elements like those vintage fabric covered buttons and those retro inspired bangles.

Philly has some GREAT vintage boutiques. Check these out if you’re ever in town:

Forbidden Planet has a superb collection of clothing and jewelry. The owner’s eye is on point. This is one of Philly’s hidden gems.

Decades Vintage is another wonderful store with really cute accessories, it’s where I found the pink clutch.

Vintage Connection is filled with sweet and funky items old and new.

barb at knack studios has provided us with some fantastic (and comment-causing) before & afters this year and today’s example is no exception. perhaps it’s because i’m a sucker for patterned paper on anything, but i’m loving this made over dresser (and those fantastic gold rose knobs). click here for more work from barb.
