pocka booka

[this is d*s intern christy kolar's first post for us- welcome, christy!]

After meeting this family at the Lincoln Crafts Festival, I couldn’t help but want to write about them. It seems to be a whole family affair. The daughter attends to the business side of things running the pocka booka site, the mother searches for vintage fabric, and the father stays busy sewing in the garage. It is not often that you meet a family like this! The sweet little jackets and dresses were not only adorable but perfectly made. They also design bags that carry a great vintage feel. It was a pleasure meeting them . . .now if I can only get my father to sew in the garage. -Christy

I hope the vintage purple blanket used for the 3rd jacket was so damaged it could only used for cutting. Otherwise I’ll shed a tear for how pretty it would have looked on a bed.

This bag is wonderful! It really looks like something out of Anthropology.

What a great way to kick it off Christy! Adorable. Try saying “pocka booka” ten times fast.

Thnx for tweeting this. How fun and inspirational.

I’d agree with moodboard about maintaining the original integrity of a vintage item, but a bedspread is just double wide fabric waiting for a higher purpose. :-)

Wow! I have never felt so compelled to comment on 3 posts the same day, but I am such a textile junkie! This is such an innovative way of using vintage textiles- the jackets. I want the mustard one for myself. Maybe they’ll add adult shrugs?
