sneak peek: elana of rosebud design

bedroom_02.jpg
today’s sneak peek comes to us from the lovely elana iaciofano, graphic designer / artist / founder of rosebud design in middltown, nj. i’m loving the calm serenity of her bedroom and the bold pops of pink that keep popping up around all the rooms, not to mention those fantastic tins. thanks so much to elana for sharing, and be sure to click here to check out more, full-sized images images of her home. (p.s. you can find her on etsy here). -anne

[Above: The bedroom is a bit more muted in color. The walls are a soft green, and the rug is a Madeline Weinrib that I found at an ABC Carpet & Home sample sale. I picked up the coral color in the rug with the pillows on the bed. ]

The rocking chair is older than I am, and the collage above the rocker is one of mine.

Vanity [click here to see inside] and nightstand. The nightstand has a collection of little things like bowls and notebooks. I can’t have enough of either of these things. The painting is by Melissa Moss.

Antique chest with mini shelf/display case. I like arranging bunches of random things: flowers, sea shells, antique keys…office_02.jpg
This is my lovely Gypsy Pink (Benjamin Moore Paints) home office. Even though I design my own stationery line, I have a lot of other people’s stationery lying around, either as decoration, or just because I like it. Snow & Graham, L|2, and Hello Lucky are some examples.

Next to the library, I covered a door in cork placemats from West Elm to use as my inspiration board.

Tea shelf: I drink a lot of tea. I got these colorful tea tins from the Pearl River Mart in SoHo.

This is my little outdoor eat/work/relax area. You can see the house in the background in the first shot. There’s a lot of green outside in the spring and summer, which I love.

you’ve combined classic pieces with a fun color palet and cute accessories - it shows traditional doesn’t have to be boring. i love the soft green wall color (what shade and where can i get?) and those curtains are stunning - where did you get them? BEAUTIFUL!

I’d love to check out the more, full-size images you link to, but the Flickr page is private. I want to see inside the vanity. :(

Looks like if you google “keep calm and carry on” you can find prints on etsy. Here is a website that talks about the story behind the print:

I’m obsessed with the pink walls. “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” has a scene in a room with deep pink walls that I’ve craved ever since.

Would you mind telling what adhesive was used to put up for the cork placemats? I have the same ones, but I didn’t know how strong the adhesive would be to keep it up. Thanks so much!

July 23rd, 2008 - 6:26 pm

what a lovely, comfortably home!~ i love the pink walls and inspiration board. so homey yet stylish. you can truly see her personality coming through. just wonderful.

July 24th, 2008 - 1:28 pm

Hi just wanted to answer a few questions - the tray is from west elm - they have a few different colors, i think. And the adhesive i used for the cork mats was some of that thick double-sided tape. Hope that helps, and thank you all for your comments!

I found the Keep Calm poster on etsy since a lot of other sites were sold out (and were shipping from the UK). Got it pretty fast and it looks great. I have mine in the kitchen and it is definitely a talking piece.
