d*s reader and rainy day rose blogger rosemary updated her $2 chair with glossy black paint and some inexpensive ikea fabric. it’s such a great example of design on a dime. stay tuned for 2 more (non-chair) furniture makeovers tomorrow…
Excellent work Rosemary! This chair looks beautiful. You found a fabric that works so well with the shape and style of the chair.
I have often thought of refinishing salvaged chairs, but {as an allergy sufferer} have always balked at the issue of old cushions. Did you replace/wash/have professionally cleaned the cushions? Do you have any recommendations?
It takes a lot of creative vision to put something like that together and have such a beautiful outcome. Well done!

aw man, you got that for $2? i have been looking for this EXACT chair for months and had to settle for a slightly more lame one for $20 - which i still thought was a good deal. great job, i’m completely jealous!
I have that EXACT chair and plan on doing a similar makeover. Does anyone know what this style of chair is called? I’d love to do a bit of research and see if I can find a mate for the one I already have.
looks super-duper! one idea to think of though, if you have enough fabric, is to make of the fabric in the seat and back go the same direction.
Awesome, nonetheless!
Thanks for all the friendly
/supportive feedback. It inspires me to do more pieces. Thanks again everyone!
