since anne just wrapped up her first installment of her australian “regional roundup” with melbourne this week i couldn’t resist adding one more fantastic melbourne designer- miranda moreira of bride & wolf. while living in paris for six years (swoon) and working as a private chef to a french actor, miranda would spend her spare time making silhouette etchings in a printmaking atelier in the 11th arrondissement. her work in the studio eventually evolved into cut-out timber stencils and the rest of history- miranda starting producing these tiny cut-outs as portable pieces of art (perfect for tiny rented parisian apartments) and her friends loved them. after leaving paris for melbourne in 2005, miranda starting selling her silhouette cut-outs in a local shop called douglas & hope. after gaining a loyal following miranda decided to open her own online shop and, as of two weeks ago, she now sells her work online and shops internationally. there’s so much incredible design and artwork being created in australia and i’m excited to see another great artist sharing their work with the international audience. some us companies make it nearly impossible to ship to australia but the aussies are always so nice to ship to us here in the states. so, click here to check out miranda’s full collection of products and shop online. thanks to miranda for sharing!
