sneak peek: christine chitnis

c11.jpg
we got the first peek into christine chitnis’s home as the 5th place winner of the lena corwin printing by hand contest with her fun painted radiator. lucky for us it turns out that the rest of her place - the third floor of an old victorian home - is equally as charming! thanks so much to christine for sharing (and there is still more here). and she couldn’t have done without the styling help of Alli Coate, Carrie Ann Chandonnait, and photographer Christian Nelson. stay tuned for another fantastic sneak peek at 1pm! -anne

[above: the famous radiator! We live on the third floor . . . with a nice breeze and the tree tops right outside our window, it almost feels like we are in a treehouse!]

c22.jpg
Our bed is huge, but so comfy. The bedframe is from Crate and Barrel and was a wedding gift. The silver blanket and blue throw are splurges from ABC Home in NYC. The graphic pillow is made from fabric that I picked up at a marketplace in Ghana.
c32.jpg
We grow our herbs on this windowsill. One reason that we love this apartment is the neat, old features, like the decorated radiators and the piping that lines some of the walls and ceilings. c41.jpg
Our kitchen is a gallery kitchen, with a limited amount of storage. We put this pegboard in to increase our storage, but we also love the way it looks, it brings some color to the walls. This teacart was my parents in their first apartment, it’s one of our favorite pieces of furniture. We received a full set of Le Creuset cookware for our wedding- it is so amazing to cook with! . . . This is our crazy yellow and white vintage tile bathroom floor!
c51.jpg
We have a beautiful brick fireplace that has a deep mantel, which is a fun place to set up little vignettes. This is a collection of stationary and cigar boxes, a little owl from local Providence shop Frog and Toad and an owl print, which I believe was from Velocity Art and Design. . . Our entryway mirror was a gift from my mother and the credenza was a Salvation Army find that I stripped and polished. I collect lace and this runner was a great find at the Brimfield Antique Show. The box is my husbands from the years he spend living in India. It holds prayer cards and his prayer beads.
c6.jpg
I had to follow the trend and arrange our bookshelf by color! I also use the magazine holders and colorful file folders for storage of all our paperwork. The Paul McCobb chair is from Scout in Chicago and the prints are from a marketplace that I visited in Paris. The bookshelf itself is from Crate and Barrel (another wedding gift!)

I’m loving the seafoam walls with the tomato red. Speaking of, could you share the name of the paint you used in the shot of the desk with the red stationery? Thanks!

So pretty! I love the shade of blue paint in your bedroom. May I ask what color/brand it is?

the whole place is like a fresh glass of cold lemonade, love it! so bright and airy with soft, sweet colors. i used to live on the 2nd floor of a victorian farmhouse and it was in awful condition - the radiators were falling apart (knobs turned to dust in your hand when you turned them) and the hardwood floors had chunks missing and warped like a funhouse floor. don’t even get me started on the bathroom! i wish that place had a tenth of the charm your home has!

sorry it has taken so long to respond, but the bedroom paint is C2’s LoVo paint and the color was specially mixed based off a chip of Benjamin Moore’s Tide Pool.

I really like the detail done in each room and the hanging baskets are simply creative.
