before and after: lora’s daybed and chair

daybed_before.jpg
i’m a huge hable construction fan so d*s reader lora appleton was spot on with her before & after submission. lora decided to give this tired daybed and chair (which were originally in her nursery when she was a baby!) an update from its “granny” look. and as it turns out, it did actually belong to her granny. so lora picked up some hable construction “cosmos” fabric in a sunshine yellow and converted her former nursery room furniture into seating fit for an adult. great work, lora!

What a great makeover! I love Hable Construction. Do they make their fabrics available to non-industry folks?

sara

sadly they’re trade only but you can hire a designer or call your local design center to order it for you (for a small fee)

I LOVE that ikat fabric. It totally changed the aesthetic in such a positive, peppy way!

Hmm. Maybe it’s not ikat, but rather ikat-esque? Or maybe I just really need to get glasses :)

Omg how amazing!! I love seeing a before & after set, too.

In my dream life (where I’m a successful author with money to blow on my particular design taste) I would totally buy these.

Rats! I’d really hoped after reading this post that they’d finally opened up to selling to the general public. I do love their fabrics!

great job! shows what some fun fabric can do. i bet marimekko fabric would work also and be more accessible to regular peeps.

Lora..we love what you did with the fabric! I hadn’t seen anything upholstered on a large scale and these turned out beautifully. glad the upholsterer worked out..thanks for sharing with us, Grace!

The yellow floral pattern is so fresh and happy! I’m in love.

I love all of the before and after!! It would be great if you were able to compile a list of recommended local reupholsters as well as maybe an easy how to do it yourself. I have a couch and 2 chairs that I just purchased that I love to reupholster, but don’t know where to start.

tks

I totally forgot to mention who did the upholstery. His name is John Day and he lives in Brooklyn, NY (and as you can see he rocks!) To get in touch with John:718-624-1380
