Paul Loughridge is a person that everyone should have the great privilege of meeting. He instantly puts you at ease and can entertain you for hours with his witty stories and sweet personality. It doesn’t hurt that he is also an incredibly talented artist.

We received our first batch of robots from Paul just days before we opened the shop and they were the cherry on our already sweet sundae. The final touch. Once we placed his work on our shelves we just knew the place was complete and we were ready to open our doors. Every time one of his bots sell we have to admit, we get a little sad.. but what good is great art if you can’t share it with the world?

Officially known as Lockwasher Design, Paul uses simple metal working tools to shape what most people would consider junk into one-of-a-kind assemblage sculptures. He frequents flea markets and garage sales in search of “treasures” such as door knobs, old car parts, coffee urns, vintage typewriters, vegetable graters, ice buckets, espresso makers, retired electrical appliances etc. Once everything has been disassembled and cleaned the real fun begins. Paul finds the process of transforming these cold, metal parts into playful art pieces thoroughly enjoyable. Somewhere during this creative journey each sculpture establishes it’s own unique personality. All of his pieces are carefully assembled using nuts/bolts, pop rivets and threaded rod…no welding.

“I firmly believe that recycling is everyone’s responsibility and by salvaging and re engineering these vintage and “found” objects I’m doing what I can”. Paul lives in Northern California and has shown his work in galleries across the country.
