Oh my GOD are the beautiful …

They look like the stuff you’d get in a lab, so to clean (answering alison above), you’d have to swill some acetone round it, then dry off with a hairdryer!

Yes, NOT very practical …. but OH so beautiful …

Very beautiful!
Too complicated to clean for my home but my eyes enjoyed it so much…

I second Alison – can you clean them?

good question about cleaning-

i’d think test tube cleaners would be good, along with a nice slow soak in a hot water bath to lift any stuck on bits in the bottom of the glass.

but definitely not the easiest thing to clean ;)

From the website:

“Lavage / Washing

Borosilicat glass is a very strong, chemically and thermically, the glass is thick (0.0788 in.) . You can wash the Decanter with very hot water. Rinse thoroughly, last rinsing with demineralized water…
Let drain the decanter 2 or 3 hours upside down on a towel folded, propped up well in a corner.”

Beautiful work, though my first thought was that they look like arteries.

These make me think of halloween :)

a little carafe cleaning tip:

Put a little dry rice in the carafe (or vase) with a touch of soap and water and swish!

if you don’t drink wine, would it be alright to put kool-aid in that?

Am I the only one that is sort of grossed out by these? I mean they are well made, but ick. They remind me of TrueBlood.

This is sooooo cool!

These make me want to drink wine and have parties where we all sit around this gorgeous sculpture and ‘oooh’, and ‘ahhhh’ over it.

And then the guests will wash up. :)

Not to put a damper on the love… but the entire purpose of a decanter is to aerate the wine to allow it to open up and soften. As cool as theses look, they don’t satisfy their function= bad design!

i don’t think they’re designed to be decanters, but rather glasses or carafes.

sculpturally, these are amazing! What a gift for a heart surgeon! However, I’d be terrified to own one of these – I would surely break it :)

I bet you could use bottle brushes to clean these….Also, denture tablets work well for anything that leaves residue and for hard to clean glassware.

October 9th, 2008 - 8:14 pm

I really think these are pretty gross. In complete agreement with everyone else who was reminded of blood, I just couldn’t drink anything coming out of those. Maybe they would be good for hipster communion at church?

Where does one buy one of these? They are beautiful and I’d love to get one for my wedding.

i love this idea / decoration and the creativity i just don’t understand its function….do you drink out of it or is it just for show?…
