We see kids pass the shop everyday with instruments in hand headed for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. We say to ourselves “Hey, that kid could be the next Bob Dylan or Kim Gordon”.

With an impressive roster of over 600 students taking classes a week (175 of which are on scholarship), the Conservatory of Music is a Silverlake staple. Men, women and children enjoy learning their favorite instruments from a staff of professional musicians, many of whom are well known in the industry. The classes are extremely affordable making them accessible to most everyone.

Opened in October 2001 by Flea of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Conservatory is a non profit organization that focuses on bringing music to the community. Scholarships are granted to deserving children in need providing them with free lessons and instruments. Black and white photos of legendary musicians line the walls and serve as a reminder of what these kids can aspire to.

The Conservatory truly is a special place. We’re simply inspired by all of the good that they’ve brought to the neighborhood.
