Comments on: before and after: andrea’s outdoor seating

Oops – I’m way behind on answering some of these questions.

April – the cost breakdown was something like: $100 for the used lounger and loveseat; $75 for the cedar slats and screws; $10 for Rustoleum spraypaint; $100 for the fabric; $250 to have new cushions custom-sewn (includes the foam).

VR – We used Rustoleum spray paint. We’ve just gone through our third summer with it and it’s still looking great.

It looks like a million bucks. Awesome job!

A couple quesions…how did you prep it before spray painting? I sprayed painted once o find out a few years later that the paint started flaking off. What type of paint did you use.

Andrea, may I ask what was the cost breakdown for your project? I’m going to be on the lookout for something like this and I’m wondering how much I should budget to achieve the transformation.

wow I love this! I love that you can remove the slats in the wet/cold weather and still have the beautiful slats! Thanks for sharing, I love seeing all the before and afters! It encourages me to see old furniture in a new way.

seriously cool… i always love seeing people get creative like this, i even go as far to say that made over furniture (or anything for that matter) usually looks better than designer store bought stuff.

Wow … color me impressed! The slats are really beautiful. I would totally think the new version is actually high-end garden furniture, and thus be very jealous that you could afford it.
